Read the measure behind the number
Our Passport Index shows a dated Henley Passport Index snapshot. Its access score includes destinations accessible without a prior visa, including visa-on-arrival and qualifying electronic travel authorisation arrangements. It is not a count of unconditional entry rights.
Compare your actual travel plans
A high total may not answer your most important question. Make a list of the destinations you visit for work or family, then check each destination’s official entry rules for the passport you would use.
Keep travel separate from residence
Short visits, permission to work and permission to live in a country are different matters. A passport ranking does not establish tax residence or prove that a particular residence permit gives work rights.
Expect the numbers to change
Visa policies change. Our snapshot has a review date and a link to the ranking publisher. Confirm current entry requirements with the destination’s immigration authority before booking.
