Start with the life you are planning
Write down why you are exploring another country. A future family home, easier business travel and a second nationality are different objectives. Put your two most important priorities first so the discussion can focus on the right questions.
Bring a family outline
List who would apply, their ages and how they are related to you. You do not need to send identity documents through our public planning tool. The consultation should establish which official dependant categories need to be checked.
Separate investment from the complete budget
Ask for an itemised estimate rather than comparing headline figures alone. Include government charges, professional fees, document preparation, dependants and continuing costs. Ask what is refundable, what remains invested and when each payment is due.
Make room for practical questions
Consider schooling, healthcare, work, time spent abroad and the obligations that continue after approval. Bring a list of uncertainties. An initial conversation is useful when it identifies what still needs research.
Leave with an agreed next step
Use the planning brief to keep your priorities together. Before committing money, ask which official sources apply, who is authorised to submit the application and which documents will be needed.
